Masahiro Urushido, Katana Kitten’s owner, made his name as one of NYC’s most inventive bartenders — and here he’s built a playful, high-energy temple to Japanese-American cocktail culture. It’s equal parts fun, irreverent, and technically brilliant.
During our first visit there months prior, James ordered the Calpico Swizzle while we sat outside — delicious, bright, and playful — if Hello Kitty was a cocktail. Watching him sip it in public was entertainment all its own.
Still satiated from Dante’s, we skipped food here and dove straight into the drinks. The shiso gin and tonic: crisp, herbal, and downright addictive. The rest of the menu follows suit — playful in presentation but serious in craft.
Katana Kitten is pure energy. I usually recommend going in the evening when the vibe is electric, but truthfully, any time you drop in, you’re going to get innovative cocktails that surprise and delight.
Cheers
